Lise Deschamps was always told that her Malaysian mother died when she was born. When her French-Canadian father dies in Montreal, she discovers that her mother is alive! She does something rash and impulsive! Her voyage to Malaysia is far more dangerous than she could ever have imagined: nightmarish, and filled with kidnappings and murder. Salleh, the hero, meets her in Kuala Lumpur and helps her find her mother in spite of increasingly dangerous occurrences. Swallowing her fear of her brother, who has been joined by two sinister accomplices, Lise hopes to meet her mother, but her situation is almost hopeless. But Salleh finds her, and her Canadian relatives arrive horrified. Lise is reunited with her mother, but has miscalculated the assailantsÂ’ cunning. After a romantic interlude Salleh is called to Kuala Lumpur. Lise returns to Montreal. When Salleh's father resumes work, he begins organizing the Montreal office and convinces Lise to marry him.
